HYDRONIC HEATING SYSTEM WIRING

Learn wiring techniques for common hydronic controls. Low water cutoffs, switching relays, zone valves and zone valve controls will be covered. Common boiler controls will be reviewed as well as the integration of new controls into existing hydronic systems. This class will be limited to twenty students as attendees will have an opportunity to perform “hands on” tasks wiring actual working controls. This class is a must for all who install code required controls such as low water cutoffs as well as those who service and troubleshoot.

HYDRONIC HEATING SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING

Review system components including circulators, expansion tanks, pressure reducing valves, etc. and their function within a hydronic system. Learn troubleshooting techniques for system components – both mechanical and electrical. A complete review of zone valve, transformer and switching relay wiring will be detailed. This seminar is perfect for the new as well as seasoned mechanic.

INTRODUCTION TO SMALL DUCT HIGH VELOCITY, (SDHV), AIR CONDITIONING

Learn installation techniques for small duct high velocity air conditioning systems utilizing 2” flexible supply duct. Review system component placement including fan coil, plenum duct and system outlets, (registers). Review system sizing software programs available to each attendee. SDHV systems can now be zoned via pneumatic dampers and precise control of system CFM can now be achieved through a single mechanical damper. Learn how these same systems can be a primary heat source via hydronic heating coils, modular electric heat and heat pump applications. Learn how central air conditioning, (and heat), can be installed in even the most difficult applications.

Attendees will have the opportunity to work with actual collectors. A to Z installation procedures will be covered in detail so the attendee can feel comfortable starting his / her first TSS job the next morning! CONDENSING WALL HUNG BOILERS, APPLICATION, INSTALLATION & SERVICE

Wall hung boilers first came to the US almost 30 years ago but today’s version is condensing with many control and application options. This class will literally dissect a wall hung condensing boiler and discuss application, control, radiation and service options. This class is designed to simplify the control setup of these unique, power packed little boilers as well as discuss how to truly get the maximum efficiency stated by manufacturer so your customer not only enjoys increased comfort but lower heating bills as well. Can, and should, a wall hung condensing boiler replace Mrs. Gillicuddy’s plain vanilla, atmospheric, non-condensing boiler? You bet!  This class will show you how to do it right and how to pick the appropriate boiler and accessories.

BASIC CIRCULATOR / PUMP SIZING

This class will cover how to correctly size a circulator for hydronic heating, chilled water and domestic hot water recirculation applications. Learn how to apply the Universal Hydronic Formula to find the required GPM for a system and / or zone. Determine the head requirement and choose the correct circulator by reading pump curves. The correct placement of the circulator within the system is covered as well as the “Point Of No Pressure Change, (PONPC). Learn how to determine the GPM and head requirements of an existing pump within a system. Review what happens to a system pump when zones start closing and how it effects system performance…and what to do about it!

We will examine PEX in radiant cooling applications…..yes, cooling! A complete review of snow melt design and application will be discussed. Baseboard element connections are a breeze with PEX tubing and PEX to copper adapters. Need to get piping to a hydronic coil in a hydroair system? NO PROBLEM with PEX tubing! Water service from street to house, remote boiler rooms that require underground piping and commercial plumbing can all be done with PEX tubing.
